Commissioned by a housing cooperative, the building replaces a previously disused structure; it completes the streetscape at the corner of via Savona and via Bruzzesi, where the buildings present varying heights. The design of the facades emphasizes the building’s urban presence, defining the corner onto via Savona while harmonizing with the diverse styles of the neighboring buildings.<\/p>\n
The apartments range from one-bedroom to three-bedroom units, culminating in penthouses. The layout and mix of apartment types, both highly flexible, reflect extensive collaboration with the cooperative’s members and individual future residents.<\/p>\n
A metal framework, featuring vertical elements of varying widths, encloses generous balconies. These outdoor extensions of the apartments’ living areas overlook the city from the building’s sunniest side. Aligned with the street front along via Savona, this framework transitions into a series of subtly rotated, ‘flag-hinged’ surfaces as it turns towards via Bruzzesi. The balconies gradually diminish in size on the upper floors, creating an interplay of light and shadow across the facade.<\/p>\n
The entrance atrium leads to two ground-floor community rooms, designed to be available for neighborhood events as well as residents’ use. Staircases with exposed concrete structures provide access to the upper floors, where landings are illuminated by skylights, and to the rooftop terrace.
